A MyPetsFiles Emotional Support Animal ID is an owner-managed identification and organization tool. It is not a government-issued certification, a medical determination, a prescription, or a guarantee that a person or animal qualifies for a legal accommodation.

ADA public access
Emotional support animals are not service animals under the ADA merely because their presence provides comfort. The ADA service-animal definition centers on a dog individually trained to perform disability-related work or tasks.
Housing is a different legal framework
HUD recognizes assistance animals in housing, including animals that provide disability-related emotional support. Depending on the circumstances, a person may request a reasonable accommodation and a housing provider may be permitted to seek reliable disability-related information when the disability or need is not apparent.
A purchased card is not the housing determination
Buying, downloading or carrying a MyPetsFiles ESA card does not by itself establish a disability, disability-related need, or entitlement to a housing accommodation.
Air travel
Under current DOT rules, emotional support animals are not service animals for air travel. Airlines may choose to transport them as pets under the airline's policies.
